 Say hello to our new Chinese Chef at Golden Lotus Suwarsono, or Nono to his friends.
Nono joins us from the Mercure Grand hotel in Surabaya, but has had experience in among others, Surabayas famous Majapahit Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
His specialty dishes are beef dishes Cantonese style, but his personal favourites are Seafood dishes like Fish and prawn with Garlic Onion.
You can be sure that Nono will bring with him his unique style of Chinese Cooking and a few of his famous secret recipes.

Peking Duck Promotion at Golden Lotus

 Commencing on the 1st July the Golden Lotus will feature Peking Duck as our signature dish of the month. You will be able to enjoy this famous dish on promotion each day for the next month.
Before you take up the menu, you might want to know more about how Peking Roasted Duck is made and how it is served. Peking Roasted Duck is processed in several steps: first the ducks are rubbed with spices, salt and sugar, and then kept hung in the air for some time.
Then the ducks are roasted in an oven, or hung over the fire till they become brown with rich grease perspiring outside which gives then their wonderful odor.
Peking Duck is always served in well-cut slices. The whole duck must be  sliced into many pieces and every piece has to be perfect with the complete layers of the meat, although the dish is mostly prized for the thin, crispy skin. Normally there are many accompaniments served with the duck, including a dish of fine-cut shallot bars, a dish of cucumber bars and finally a dish of paste-like soy of fermented wheat flour.
The real secret of Peking duck's flavor lies in you carefully nibbling away at the complete mixture of all the accompaniments of which you will find all the different ingredients very compatible. But it is not necessary to order extra soup, for the duck-bone soup is always included in your order. It will be served as a side dish for the dinner.
The history of the Peking Duck can be traced as far back as the Yuan Dynasty (1206 - 1368). By the time of the early 15th century it had become one of the favorite dishes of the imperial Ming family.
