What's happening in June to August at our Resort
A FLAG RAISING CEREMONY TO MARK INDONESIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY AT PENGALUSAN.
South Kuta – In the early morning of August 17th 2012, representatives from the Bali Dynasty Resort attended the East Bali Poverty Project's flag raising ceremony and annual Independence Day event in the remote mountain hamlet of Desa Ban in North Eastern Bali where EBPP's 6 schools and local villagers converged in the dry river bed to celebrate Indonesia’s 67th Independence Day, all organized by the East Bali Poverty Project. The Bali Dynasty Resort, every year since 2002 in the same location for all of the children in the 6 remote schools, as in previous years, sponsored the Hygiene kits for each of all students and tutors of the 6 schools which consisted of towels, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste as well as fresh fruit to remind the villagers of the importance of good personal hygiene and healthy nutritional eating. The children of EBPP's schools prepared great performances from Balinese dances to drama and music. There were fun games organized for the kids such as krupuk eating contests and sack races making it a joyous occasion for all!
This event was also the perfect occasion to hand over a brand new camera to I. Wayan Lias, the young and talented artist from the village Cegi whom the Bali Dynasty Resort has been supporting in his further education at the Fine Art Faculty in Singaraja since May 2012.
The camera was given to support a photography segment in his studies where Lias will be required to make a photo exhibition. “I am very grateful, now I am able to practise and develop my photographic skills”, Lias said. He also pointed out to the young children in the village to keep doing their best as this will bring results and a better future.
A selection of Lias’ art is being displayed in the resort as well as being posted on the hotels website. The paintings are for sale and 50% of the money raised will directly go to supporting his education.

High Flyers Bali - "I believe. I can fly."
High Flyers BaliTrapeze School has opened at the Bali Dynasty Resort in South Kuta, Bali so that everyone can experience some of the magic and mystique of the circus while visiting this paradise resort. Participants can be aged 5 to 65 so all the family can join and make this an unforgettable holiday.
High Flyers @ Bali Dynastyoffers a challenging and fun experience within a safe and controlled environment with the aim of facilitating the development of new personal skills and greater self-confidence for the participants. The trapeze activity openedin July 2012 with a small trapeze rig primarily dedicated to in-house hotel guests. The “Mini Volant” is ideally suited for children and teenage guests as its scaled down height is less scary proposition than a full-sized trapeze rig, making it a valuable addition to the existing resort attractions.
Trapeze is an amazing and versatile activity with many benefits. Until recently, it was exclusively a circus act that drew gasps of amazement from audiences who watched the aerial acrobatics of professionals twisting, somersaulting, and flying through the air.
High Flyers @Bali Dynastyis one of many trapeze schools opening around the world which aims to make this exhilarating activity accessible to the public. Trapeze improves coordination, flexibility and balance as well as teaching creative movement and building core strength. Teamwork and trust are essential in this non-competitive activity. Flyers grow in confidence and self-esteem as they overcome their fears and push themselves to achieve tricks and catches they previously thought impossible.
With each trapeze class, a flyer achieves more tricks to include catches and somersaults. With a maximum class size of 10 adults or 12 kids each flyer can be given individual attention and time to develop their skills.
High Flyers @ Bali Dynasty Resort operates to the highest safety standards with high quality rigs imported from the USA. The well-trained staff, which includes international trainers, is professional and supportive. High Flyers has established safety and maintenance procedures to ensure that all flyers can enjoy this fun and exciting experience without any concerns over personal safety.

10 years of Gracie Kelly’s!
Gracie Kelly’s, Bali’s 1st Original Irish Pub, celebrates its 10 year anniversary, 10 years of awesomeness, uniqueness, originality and “craic” (Irish for Fun!)
On Friday, 15 June 2012 friends and long time supporters of the famous Gracie Kelly’s were invited to join a special event commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the pub. Ten years earlier, Gracie Kelly’s marketed itself as the “first original Irish Pub” in Bali; ten years later Gracie Kelly’s remains the only “original” Irish pub in Bali. The popularity of Irish pubs around the world continues as it is virtually impossible to not find such a unique representation of Irish culture on any continent.
The popularity of the Irish pub concept is due to it’s relaxed dining environment and traditional Irish entertainment. The unique concept and interior adopts the theme of a traditional Irish country cottage pub combined with the traditional Irish Shop pub theme, which recreates the ambience of an old-style general store that can be found in every small Irish town.
Gracie Kelly’s prides itself on serving wholesome home cooked food, specialities include beef and stout pie, bangers and mash and you cannot leave without testing Gracies Homemade Hot sticky Toffee Pudding!
Gracie Kelly’s now have their very own live Leprechauns. Both named Ketut, the story of the Leprechaun is from an old Irish fairy tale and they are renowned for causing mischief. They busied themselves making shoes all day and according to the fairy tails were known to store all their money in a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! If ever caught by a human the Leprechaun has the magic power to grant three wishes before their release. Perhaps when you meet them you won’t find their pot of gold, nor may your wishes come true but you will certainly have some fun and laughs and your visit to Gracie Kellys will be a memorable one.
Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub, located at the Bali Dynasty Resort, is becoming an increasingly popular venue with live music seven nights a week and big screen sporting events as well as pool tables, darts and karaoke.
Watch your favourite sports live on the big screen in air conditioned comfort or test your general knowledge skills and win great prizes twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday when it is Quiz Time to raise money for our Charity Effort. Open from 11am daily serving both lunch and dinner, Gracie Kelly’s certainly provides an atmosphere unique to Bali; whether you are looking for a good watering hole with friendly staff or a good wholesome home cooked meal!
Another Sustainability Milestone
The Bali Dynasty Resorts’ Charity Effort and fundraising just reached another milestone in the path to sustainability when the villagers of Pengalusan produced and sold over 300 handmade bamboo wastebaskets to the Bali Dynasty Resort for their guest rooms.
The Bali Dynasty Resort in conjunction with the East Bali Poverty Project has supported this small and remote village in North Eastern Bali since 2003 hoping, through providing education, that in the long term the people of this community in time will become self sustainable.
Since 1998, The East Bali Poverty Project has strived to create a sustainable community by way of low-cost, high-quality, environmentally friendly solutions. One of their latest projects is the Bamboo Reforestation. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, and on top of that it is the best known method of carbon sequestration. The East Bali Poverty Project in conjunction with bamboo specialists such as the infamous Linda Garland, has taught the people in the surrounding villages how to plant bamboo, harvest it in order for the carbon to remain sequestered in its roots, and use it to sell for building projects ranging from huts to houses and the smaller projects such as the wastebaskets.
Due to theresounding support of the Bali Dynasty Resort guests, business partners and suppliers, in 2011 the fundraising exceeded all targets enabling the Bali Dynasty Resort to take more actions to push future sustainability. One such project was the purchase of over 400 bamboo seedlings planted on 1 hectare on the outskirts of Pengalusan and the other being to support the University Education of budding artist Lias who was actually once of the first school members in Cegi which the Bali Dynasty Resort sponsored from 2000.
